FAQ
Everything you need to know about BJJ and our gym.
-
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art specializing in takedowns and ground techniques. BJJ teaches practitioners how to control opponents through positioning, then finish with joint locks and chokes, without relying on striking or brute strength. It is one of the most effective self-defense systems in the world and forms the backbone of modern MMA.
-

Yes. We offer one completely free trial session for all new students. Contact us via Zalo or Facebook to schedule your visit.
-
Just wear comfortable athletic clothing. We can lend you a Gi (kimono) for the trial session. After joining as a member, you will need your own Gi or rashguard depending on the class.
-
No. BJJ is designed to be effective regardless of your current fitness level. Your conditioning will improve naturally through training. The most important thing is to start.
-
Sparring is never mandatory, so there is no need to worry. Depending on how you feel on the day or your experience level, you are welcome to sit out or join only part of the sparring session.
-
BJJ is a contact martial art practiced in a controlled, safe environment. We emphasize safety in every session. Beginners learn to "tap" before any real pressure is applied, and all students are required to spar in a controlled and respectful manner.
-
For beginners, 2–3 sessions per week is ideal for building technical foundations while allowing your body time to recover. As you progress, you can increase to 3–4 sessions per week. Of course, if you are busy with work or family, once a week is perfectly fine — and if you are aiming to compete, 4–5 sessions per week is an option too. Train at whatever frequency fits your goals and lifestyle.
-
All of our classes are open to everyone regardless of gender. BJJ is particularly well-suited for women as the techniques allow a smaller, lighter person to control a larger opponent. We have many female practitioners and maintain a welcoming environment for all.
